Sophia Esch

Sophia Esch is a Michigan-based theatre artist, educator, and arts manager. She is the Director of Shakespeare in Prison, Detroit Public Theatre’s signature community program, where she leads ensemble-based theatre work inside correctional facilities and in community settings with returning citizens. She also serves as the Managing Director of the Professional Youth Theatre of Michigan (PYTMI) and is a Graduate Research Assistant with Wayne State University’s Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre & Dance. Through education, advocacy, and arts leadership, Sophia’s work centers on theatre as a tool for healing, access, and social change.
